Rita Wood

Rita Wood, 100 of Inverness, Fl formerly of Tolono, passed away on May 31, 2025 at home.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ivesdale with Rev. Patrick O’Neal officiating.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ivesdale.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM, Sunday at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono with Rosary at 1:30 PM.

Mrs. Wood was born April 19, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio, a daughter to Michael and Anna Schmitt Streit.  She married James R. Wood, he preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son; James E (Laura) Wood of Florida, grandchildren; Matthew (Becky) Wood of Michigan, Jackie (Jason) Price of Florida, great-grandchildren; Joey in the US Army, Julia and Jamie Price of Florida, Payton, Ella and Gunnar of Michigan, and multiple step-grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son. step-daughter, and many friends.

She moved from Ohio to Illinois then to Florida, where she passed living with her son and daughter in law.  She was employed as secretary at multiple jobs through her life.  She was very active in her church.  She also enjoyed taking bus trips with different groups. 

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, hospice, or Alzheimer’s Association.
