Patricia Ann “Patty” Gunning, 88 of Tolono passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, surrounded by her family who loved her very much.

Patty was born January 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Thelma Driver Kraft, growing up on a farm near Newman.  She graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1953.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick (Pat) of 52 years, her parents, her eldest son P.C. (Chuck) and youngest daughter Audrey Lynn. 

Survivors include two children Karen (John) Blackstock of Champaign and Tim (Crista) Gunning of Orlando, FL and three grandchildren; Tyler, Tiffany and Cory all of Orlando, FL.

Her and Pat built their house in 1957.  She married Pat on September 3, 1956 in Tolono.  She was a homemaker and a great cook.  She was known for her deviled eggs and banana cream pie.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini fan.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00AM Friday May 5, 2023 at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono with graveside service to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Tolono. 

We will miss your love and the memories we have we will cherish for a lifetime. 

The family would like to give a special thank to all the nurses and doctors at Carle and the staff of the CCU who made our mother comfortable during her hospice stay.
