Patricia Compton

Patricia (Pat) Marie (Samson) Harris Compton, 87, of Savoy, received her Heavenly reward on October 31, 2024, at Piatt County Nursing Home surrounded by family.

Pat was born on December 19, 1936, to Frank and Beulah Minor Samson. She was the youngest to siblings Frank Jr. (Izzy), Keith, Dorothy, and Barbara Jean. Barbara Jean survives her. 

Pat married Maron (Bud) Harris on February 8, 1952, he passed suddenly on April 6,1980   Pat later met James (Jim) Paul Compton, of Danville, and they married on August 9, 1985. He survives. They resided in Oakwood for most of their married life, until recently relocating to Savoy and then Monticello. 

Pat leaves behind her children and their spouses Donna (Sonny), Gordon (Linda), Mari Lynn (Ken), Cheryl (John), Keith (Theresa), Barb (Randy), and Mindi (Mike) and one stepson, Mike (Kristine)  

She also leaves behind 15 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 8 great-grandsons, 6 great-granddaughters, 2 great-great-grandchildrenand numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pat worked for many years in local grocery stores including the Tolono and St. Joe IGA’s. Pat loved “hard”. She packed a lot of spirit in her small stature, just like how she and Jim packed so many people into their small home to celebrate holidays and other festivities. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, and quilt making. She loved traveling to see new places. 

She was a faithful member of the Curtis Road Church of God.

Visitation will be held between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Curtis Road Church of God, 2604 Curtis Road, Champaign. Funeral proceedings will take place immediately following at the same location.

Interment will follow at Bailey Cemetery, Tolono with family serving as pallbearers, where she will be laid to rest near othermembers of her family.
