Max Pridemore Obituary

Max Edward Pridemore, 83, of Gibson City, formerly of Philo, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Born on December 11, 1941, Max was the beloved son of Elza Pridemore and Frieda Pauline Graham Pridemore. He is survived by his sisters Debbie (Don) Sherwood of Mountain Home, AR, Eva (Dean) Chism of Missouri, and half-sister Ramona (James) Ward of Metcalf. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Myke and James Pridemore, and sisters Patricia Butler and Beverly Smith.

Max graduated from Tolono High School in 1957 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966 aboard the USS Hornet. He continued his service in the Naval Reserves until 1968. On May 6, 1967, he married Kathryn Mae Huffman, with whom he shared three daughters: Teri Gibbs of Champaign, Christina (John) Brownfield of Fisher, and Michele (Louie) Pridemore of Fisher. Kathy passed away in January 1983. Max later shared meaningful relationships, including a special bond with Trudy Dahl.

Max cherished his grandchildren: Ryan (Krystal) Pridemore, Riley (Kelsey) Gibbs, Drew Gibbs, Amber (Dan) Green, Karson (Ali) Gibbs, Jordan Murdent, Cole (Sabrina) Gibbs, and Katelyn Murdent. He was also blessed with five great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons, with two more expected in 2025. A man of integrity and warmth, Max will be remembered for his devotion to family and his enduring friendships. Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Freese Funeral Home in Tolono. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by military honors at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be announced at a later date.
