Marion Carl Hildreth “Moe”, 86 of Tolono passed away at 11:35AM, Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Friday April 3, 2026 at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono with services to follow with Dianna Stiegler (niece of Marion) officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Marion was born July 31, 1939 at Burnham City Hospital, a son to Robert and Velna Hildreth. He was married to Marilyn Kay Lutz on Jan 9, 1957 for 58 years, she preceded him in death.
Surviving are three children; Marcia (Mike) Park of Newman, Marc (Mary) Hildreth of Villa Grove and Marty (Terri) Hildreth of Tolono, 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, brothers; Raymond Hildreth and Richard Hildreth of South Carolina and sisters; Connie Neumann of Georgia, Cheryl Castle of Tolono and Cathy Price of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert, James and Tom Hildreth, two sisters; Clara Tarter and Cindy Patton, a great-grandson; Carson Cler and granddaughter; Melissa Cler.
He retired from Woodworth and Sons Trucking, Tolono. He enjoyed bowling, watching wrastling, hunting, and fishing with brother-in-law Jim Lutz. Fishing with mom and many of his grandkids, although he didn’t get to fish as much as he was always taking fish off, rebating hooks, and fixing lines.
He enjoyed many vacations with Marilyn, visiting David and Lois Lutz in Florida and sister Connie and brother-in-law Bob Neumann and the last few years he spent many winter months with them as well. He left behind a lot of good memories and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank his sister Cathy Price, who was incredible and we are forever grateful for. We appreciate all the great nurses and staff which were very caring and compassionate the last few weeks.
