Marilyn K. (Wax) Gones

 Marilyn K. Gones 85, of St. Joseph passed away at 1:40 P.M. Wednesday February 26, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday March 3, 2025 at Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. St. Joseph. Rev. Jim Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

 Marilyn was born May 3, 1939 in Chrisman. The daughter of William W. and Glendola (Phillips) Wax. She married John W. Gones Jr. on April 2, 1960 in Sidell. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008.

 She is survived by her children; John (Cheryl) Gones III of St. Joseph, Jim (Terri) Gones of Ozark, MO and Jacinda (Michael) King of Urbana. Six grandchildren Patrick (Bri) Gones, Mark (Denise) Gones, Lucas (Kylie) Gones, Ryan (Jackie) Gones, Aaron (Courtney) Gones, Kiel (Alana) King. Nine great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arnold Wax.

 Marilyn was a member of the St. Joseph United Methodist Church, St. Joseph Women's Club and the St. Joseph Senior Citizens.

 She worked as a cook at the St. Joseph Ogden High School for 19 years. Marilyn enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities and fishing with her husband.

 Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph United Methodist Church or Glenwood Assisted Living of Mahomet.
