Margaret Veronica Perri

Margaret (“Peggy”) Veronica Perri (88) of Tolono, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 21, 2025. Her Children were with her. The oldest daughter of Joseph and Verna Boberg, she was born on September 20, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Bellfield Girls Vocational High School in Pittsburgh where she simultaneously earned her high school diploma and her State of Pennsylvania Cosmetology License. Upon graduating in 1954, she worked as a hairdresser at salons in the general Pittsburgh area.

Margaret married Vincent R. Perri Sr. on September 20, 1959 in Pittsburgh. They moved their family to Tolono in 1967. Always an involved mother, Margaret never missed attending each of her children’s sporting events and school activities. When she found spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, making quilts, canning preserves, and was a fan of ice hockey and basketball, especially the Illini men’s and women’s teams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2015, three sisters: Verna Marie Boberg, Grace Jones, and Nancy Smith; and two brothers: Joseph Boberg and Jack Boberg. She is survived by one sister: Ruth Wise of Pittsburgh, PA; one brother: Jim (Gina) Boberg of Washington, PA; four children: Vincent (Lisa) Perri Jr. of Champaign, Melinda Perri of Monticello, Denise (Michael) Yaneck of Bolingbrook, and Melanie (Tony) Palmer of St. Charles, MO; and six grandchildren: Lindsey Perri of Champaign, Nichole (Dylan) Gibson of Springville, AL, Michael Perri of Charleston, Brian (Phynix) Yaneck of Avondale Estates, GA, Grant Palmer of St. Charles, MO, and Trinity Palmer of St. Charles, MO.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Freese Funeral Home in Tolono, followed by burial at 1:00 pm at Danville National Cemetery.
