Linda J Hicks

 Linda J. Hicks 76, of Royal passed away at 5:05 P.M. Monday February 28, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.


 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday March 5, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. Following the service refreshments will be served in the church basement. Pastor Jay Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the church with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 P.M.

 Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. St. Joseph is in charge of arrangements.

 Linda was born May 18, 1945 at Racine, WI the daughter of Irving and Doris (Sprangenberg) Hiller. She married Donald Hicks on May 24, 1969 in Racine, WI. He survives.

 She is also survived by her sons; Matthew (Kimberly) Hicks of Collierville, TN, Andrew (Casey) Hicks of Evanston, IL. Two granddaughters Presley and Caroline Hicks. Brother James (Barbara) Hiller of Champaign. Sister-in-law Barbara Hiller of Evanston, IL.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Phillip Hiller.

 Linda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. She taught Junior High Science at Gifford K-8 School. 

 She was also a volunteer at the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Champaign.

 Linda loved her flower garden, taking walks with her neighbors, and Fighting Illini Basketball. Most of all she loved spending time with her granddaughters.
