Larry Brand

Lawrence L. "Larry" Brand, 86, passed away on December 8, 2025, in Matton, Illinois. Born on September 15, 1939, to Marian and Irven Brand, Larry was a long-time resident of Illinois, where he dedicated his life to the agriculture industry and community service.

Larry grew up attending Philo Elementary and Unity High School before furthering his education at Parkland College. He spent many years working in farming and farm management, staying deeply involved in the agricultural community. In addition to his farming, Larry worked for the State of Illinois in road maintenance and later brought joy to many as a greeter at Walmart.

A man of faith, Larry was member of the Philo Presbyterian Church. He was known for his passion for farm life, often sharing stories about raising cattle and crops. Larry also had a creative side, enjoying the art of stained glass, which he pursued as a hobby.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Rich); son, Scott (Tricia); two nephews; one niece; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren, which he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Irven Brand; one brother; and two sisters.

Services to celebrate Larry's life will be held Friday December 12, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with Masonic Rites at 1:00 P.M.at Freese Funeral Home 407 N Bourne St. Tolono, IL. Graveside services will be held following  Masonic services at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo. 

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Shriner's Children’s Hospital in Larry's memory.
