Karen Lohse Obituary

Karen Ann Lohse, 73 of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday

December 4th 2024 at 5:40am at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Karen was born August 11th 1951 at Mercy Hospital in Urbana to her

loving parents, Emmett Wilson Woodcock and Corrine Jane Woodcock.(Both Deceased)

She is survived by her husband of 42 years John S. Lohse(81) of Rochester and her

2 children Eric Lohse(40) of Rochester and David Lohse(38) of Springfield.

She has 6 siblings, Deborah (Russ) Carlson of Lucas, Texas, Jeff (Kandy)

Woodcock, Melinda (Bill) Reich, Steve (Carla Ogle) Woodcock, all of

Tolono, Suzanne (Tim) Mitchell of Pesotum and Mary Frances Woodcock (Died after birth)

Karen really enjoyed Bob Barker, The Price is Right and loved being around animals.

Over the course of her life she had many different animals she loved and cared for.

She loved cooking, sewing, reading and chatting with family and friends. In Karen's

younger days her and her family traveled a lot around the country to various places,

she always really enjoyed stopping at antique stores while on the road. Once her kids

were born in the mid to late 1980's she became a loving and dedicated stay at home mom.

Karen grew up in Tolono and worked at the University of Illinois in Champaign where she

met her future husband John in the early 1980's. Once married in 1982, John and Karen settled in

Rochester to be closer to John's job at the Illinois Department of Agriculture in Springfield.

She was a kind, gentle, and loving person and will be sadly missed by all friends and family. 

Karen was cremated at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home (Premier Cremation Services)

in Springfield on Monday December 9th and her ashes will be buried at Bailey

Memorial Cemetery in Tolono on Saturday April 26, 2025 at 11:30 AM, Rev Gail Meyers 
from the Tolono United Methodist Church will be officiating.
