Jose Cantu

 Jose Cantu 88, of Rantoul passed away at 3:25 P.M. Sunday January 22, 2023 at Brookstone Estates of Rantoul.

 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 28, 2023 at Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.

 Jose was born on February 13, 1934 in El Paso, TX . The son of Mary (Felix) Cantu.

 He is survived by his children; Nestor (Mary) Cantu of St. Joseph, Christina Ashabraner of Clarksville, IN, Rene Cantu of Effingham, IL, and Michelle Cantu of Chicago. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 Jose loved horses, riding horses and was a jockey for a time.

 He enjoyed fixing things. He always wanted to be active and keep busy. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
