John R Kamradt

John R. Kamradt, 76, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. He was born in Champaign on April 23, 1946, the son of Everett and Gertrude (Polk) Kamradt. He married Suzanne Blair on October 18, 1969. Surviving are his wife, Suzanne; son, Jeremy (Dana) Kamradt, daughter, Andrea Kamradt and grandchildren, Connor Kamradt, Cassidy Kamradt and Delaney Kamradt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Kamradt, sister-in-law Arlene Kamradt and nephew Brian Kamradt. John was raised on the family farm and graduated from Unity High School. He farmed with his father and brother before he joined the U.S. Navy Reserve and was called to active duty serving in Vietnam. He began his career at the University of Illinois in 1969 and became the Supervisor of Transportation and Facilities at the Division of Rehabilitation-Education Services. During his tenure he was awarded the Chancellors Distinguished Staff Award, the College of Applied Life Studies Staff Excellence award and the DSO Honorary Life Membership Award. He retired after 34 years of service. John then worked for Pioneer Seed Company. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School, and at one time served on the church council and as the financial secretary. John also was a member of the Sadorus Grove Cemetery Board. A lunch will be served at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sadorus.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Craw Cemetery, Sadorus, Illinois with Pastor Matthew Montgomery officiating.
