John Blackstock

John Blackstock, 86, of Tolono formerly of Champaign passed away at 11:20PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at home.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at St. Patrick Cemtery, Tolono with Rev. Gail Meyers officiating.  Freese Funeral Home, Tolono is assisting with arrangements.

John was born December 11, 1939 in Urbana, a son to John and Mary Lakey Blackstock.  He married Karen Gunning on August 25, 1984 in Tolono, she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter; Catherine Bitner of Ventura, CA and a son; John Blackstock Jr of Carterville, IL, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five nieces, and two nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother; Rowndie Holeman.

He graduated from Champaign Central High School and University of Illinois.  He was the superintendent for Kuhne Co. in Champaign, building commercial buildings.  He enjoyed NASCAR, was a member of Corvette Club and raced Chevy Corvettes.  He really enjoyed talking to Rev. Gail Meyers on a regular basis.   The family would like to thank Carle Hospice for their care they gave to John.
