Jan Carlson

 In God's chosen time she left the presence of this earth and was welcomed to her new home by our Lord. Jan Carlson passed way on September 8, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.  

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 14, 2023 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 802 E. Douglas St. Joseph, IL. Pastor Andrew Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to the time of service on October 14, 2023 at the church.

 Freese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 Jan was born December 12, 1938 in Rockford, IL. The daughter of Milton and Eleanor (Johnson) Miller. She married Ray Carlson on September 12, 1959 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2022.

 She is survived by her children; Greg (Sue) Carlson of St. Joseph, Julie (Doug) Earl of Summerville, SC, Brian Carlson of Scottsdale, AZ, Jennifer Romito of Champaign. Seven grandchildren; Abe, Brooke, Brittany, Nicholas, Josee, Alyssa, Griffin. Two great-grandchildren Maddison and Queston. Several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Larry Miller.

 Jan was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph.

 She was a graduate of West Rockford High School Class of 1956, and Swedish American School of Nursing in 1959. She spent her career in Pediatric Medicine. As a teen she was active in Girl Scouts and 4H work. She was crowned 4H Queen of Winnebago County.

 A favorite pastime was spending time in the bleachers cheering on her grandchildren. Jan was a Illini fan and loved to tailgate with family and friends. She spent time with Ray in Branson, Arizona and Hawaii.

 Jan will be remembered for her infectious smile. Her three passions were her love of Christ, her family and nursing.

 Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or Caring Bridge Donation Processing Center.
