James F. Like

James “Jim” Francis Like, 87, has been taken home to our Lord, December 25, 2025, 1:22PM at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Jim was born June 28, 1938 in Farina, IL, (Which by the way has a zip code that matches his birth date).  He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Patricia A. (Weber) Like, his daughter; Cherie (Like) Flowers, a son; Brian Like, father; Richard Like and mother; Helen (Siegfried) Like, brothers; Keith, Wayne and John, and sisters; Phyllis and Joyce.

He is survived by two sons; Thomas Like and Clifford Like, two brothers; Gerald and Larry, three sisters; Lois, Carolyn and Rita, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Jim grew up on a farm in rural Farina, Illinois and met and married the love of his life Patrica Weber from Edgewood, Illinois.  They spent 66 years raising a family and enjoying all the blessing this life had to offer.

Jim retired from the CN railroad after 40 plus years.  He was passionate about raising his children and was involved with many of their activities, even coaching their little league baseball team.  He enjoyed square dancing with his wife and friends, was a die-hard country music fan and was educated by the Sunday comics (inside joke).  Jim was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church, Tolono.  He now resides in the house of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ and is reunited with all those who have gone before him.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday December 30, 2025 with the rosary at 7:00 PM at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 212 E Washington, Tolono, with Rev. Patrick O’Neal officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
