Ina Mae Eckstein Obituary

Ina Mae Eckstein, 94, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023. She was born February 28, 1929, the daughter of Vern and Edith Robinson Pittman.

On January 6, 1951, she married Paul Eckstein at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Crittendon Township. They had seven children. Don (Marsha) Eckstein, Tolono; Kathryn (Bruce) Douglas, Urbana; Tony (Lynn) Eckstein, Champaign; Ray (Theresa) Eckstein, Tolono; Theresa (Merle) Ingersoll, Champaign and Mary (Earl) Martin, Philo. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Gady, 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Michael Eckstein and her granddaughter, Mary Kate Douglas. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Orville and Don Pittman, and her sisters Annabelle Fillenwarth and Judy Mitchell.

Ina Mae was a beautician for over 50 years with a beauty shop in her home. She made many lifelong friends through her business. She was a beloved grandmother, mother, wife, aunt, sister and daughter known for her kindness and a need to feed everyone. Everyone was welcome at Ina’s house. She was a long-time member of St Patrick’s Parish in Tolono belonging to the Altar and Rosary Society for many years.

Services will be held at St Patrick’s Parish on Thursday, May 4, 2023, with a visitation from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with a mass of Christian burial to follow with interment at St Patrick’s cemetery Tolono.

Special thanks to the staff of Tuscola Healthcare Center and Transitions Hospice.  Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Alter and Rosary Society, Tolono.
