Gary C Graves

Gary C. Graves, 84, of Champaign passed away Feb. 7 ,2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, under the care of great doctors and nurses.  

He had been fighting Multiple Myeloma for several years.  Gary was born September 27, 1937 in Champaign.  He was the son of James A. and Marcella (Mullikin) Graves.  He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Maraba Gaynes.

Gary’s last year at Unity High School in Tolono he joined the United States Air Force.  He served four years and was honorably discharged in July 1963.  He married Mary Ellen Meyers on February 27, 1960, she survives.  Also surviving are two children; Kelley E. Graves (Mark) Millsap and Gary B. Graves, and two granddaughters, Taylor Joelle and Riley Elaina Millsap.  Gary worked at Humko, then J.M. Jones for 20 years.  Then he went into farming full time, Gary loved being a long time farmer in the Sadorus area.  He also loved going to the elevator to talk to the other farmers.

Due to lots of help from Bruce and Kelley, Gary was able to farm a few years longer.

The family requests only prayers and that you tell your family and friends how much they mean to you and that you love them.

Due to COVID there will be no services at this time.  Freese Funeral Home, Tolono is assisting with arrangements.
