Frances Jean McCormick

Frances Jean McCormick, 97, of Philo passed away at 12:31 AM, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Arbor Rose, Tolono.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00AM, Saturday, November 29, 2025 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Philo with Rev. Keith Walder officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Philo.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, November 28, 2025 at the church.  Rosary will be at 3:30PM.

Jean was born May 7, 1928 in Philo, daughter of Frank John and Lottie Maurine Johnson Miller.  She married Charles “Bud” Edwin McCormick on June 18, 1949 in Philo, he preceded in death on January 20, 2001.

Surviving are five children; Edith (Max) Sanchez, Chuck (Ruth) McCormick Jr, Tim (Barbara) McCormick, Kathleen (Dale) Shipley and David (Kelly) McCormick, 10 grandchildren; Christian, Hailey, Charles III, Hannah, Erin, Moe, Amy, Matt, Jacque, and Amanda, seven step grandchildren; Jeff, Greg, Eric, Julie, Frosty, Allyn and Jason, eight great-grandchildren; Lilly, Austin, Taya, Archie, Holden, Reid, Spencer, and Maddox, 10 step- great grandchildren; Alexandra, Ruben, Diego, Teyah, Jacob, Maggie, Cathan, Elena, Kenahdie, Addison;  two step great-great-grandchildren; Ezra and Layla, two sisters-in-law; Pat Durham and Madonna Abrams, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her parents and five sisters; Wanda Whitton, Juanita Brewer, Rena O’Neill, Reva Werts and Mary Keith.

Jean was employed at the University of Illinois as Supervisor of Student Services and Campus Information.  She served as Philo Mayor and was on the town board for years.  She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society, was active in the Jr. and Sr. Woman’s Club and was Philo’s Citizen of Year in 1994.

Memorials may be made to St. Thomas School.
