Dottie J Schweighart-Pottorff

Dottie J Schweighart-Pottorff, 96 of Tuscola passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Brookstone Estates of Tuscola.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb 24, 2026 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum.  Freese Funeral Home, Tolono is handling arrangements.

Dottie was born January 31, 1930, a daughter to Owen and Viola Coay Robertson.  She married Harold Schweighart, he preceded in death on August 12, 1968.  She later married Junior Pottorff, he preceded in death in 2001.

She is survived by two sons; David (Melodee) Schweighart of Pesotum and Doug (Viola) Schweighart of Pesotum four daughters; Letihia (Dan) Grummert of Fort Collins, CO, Bonita (Brian Hope) Schweighart of Bisbee, AZ, Gail (Dana Williams) of Vancouver, WA and Anna (William) Stone of Philo, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Robert and William Robertson and a step-son; Rodger Pottorff.

She was employed at the University of Illinois as a clerk typist.  She graduated from Tuscola High School in 1947 and Champaign Business College in 1948.  She was a seamstress since she was 10 years old.  She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
