Doris Marie (Lear) Deremiah, 100, of Paxton formerly of St. Joseph passed away peacefully at Accolade Health Care on Fulton, Paxton, Sunday March 29, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Doris was born July 24, 1925 in Hannibal, Mo near the lighthouse by the Mississippi River. She was the daughter of Flossie (Wilcox) Lear and Andrew Perry Lear. She graduated from Hannibal High School in 1945 and attended Hannibal La Grange college. She married Arlo W. Deremiah on January 30, 1947 at Hannibal.
Over the years she worked at the Sister Shop, St. Joseph, the Champaign County Bank and Trust and the Urbana School District. She was a member of the Champaign County Home Extension and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. She enjoyed sewing and was a master seamstress.
Doris is survived by one daughter, Cynthia M. Hanson (John Ison), of Carthage, IL, and one son Arlo D. Deremiah (Debra) of Paxton. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Paul Meier, Allison Lock, Peter Meier, Adam Deremiah (Larissa) and Brian Hanson (Natalie), 8 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Paulina Scott of Palmyra, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arlo and one infant son, Terrance Avery Deremiah.
She will be laid to rest by her husband and son at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mayview, IL at a private graveside ceremony on a later date.
