July 23, 1957 ~ September 16, 2023 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Obituary

Dee Jay Stewart, 66, of Tolono passed away at 10:53AM, Saturday, Sept 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

DJ was born July 23, 1957, the son of Gene and Phyllis Elliott.  He married Lesa Plackett on Sept 1, 1978 and she preceded in death on Oct 2, 2012.

He is survived by his daughter; Katie (Matt) Pieczynski, son; Joshua Stewart, grandchildren; Abigail and Carter Pieczynski, siblings; Donna (Jim) Spencer, Tina (Max) Neal, Doug (Lannie) Stewart as well as his girlfriend; Karen Riddell.

In addition to Lesa, he was also preceded in death by his younger brother; Davey and parents Gene and Phyliss Elliott.

As a child, DJ was very outgoing and adventurous.  He and his best friend Ricky Willamon always found ways to be mischievous and they grew up together were still that way as adults.  DJ and friends spent countless hours planning their inventions trying to come up with the next big thing.  He enjoyed riding motocross bikes with his dad, going to car shows (where he proudly entered his ’68 Camaro), golf, and spending winters in Naples, FL with Karen.  But mostly he enjoyed his two grandchildren and took pride in whatever they were doing and loved taking them on adventures and teaching them new things. (Even if they ran out of gas doing it)

DJ was the owner of S&S Construction where he provided services and repairs to the Tolono area and many neighboring communities.  He also owned J&K Warehouses in Tolono.  DJ was also a past board member and former president of Tri-City Country Club.  Even after retirement, he always loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in the community.
