Dallas Hardig Obituary

Dallas Lloyd Hardig, 88, of Farmer City, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Accolade
Healthcare in Savoy.
Dallas “Lloyd” was born in Tuscola on June 10, 1937, to his mother, Margaret E. Hardig
(Taylor), and his father, Dallas W. Hardig.
He was a self-taught man with many talents. From a very early age, he helped his family on the
farm. A favorite story he often told was that “he milked the cows before he was tall enough to
get on the stool.”
He worked for many years as an auto mechanic and painter at Beasley Yellow Cab Company in
Champaign. In Pensacola, Florida, he partnered with Dan Lehman, where they owned and
operated Color World Body Shop for over 20 years. He also painted a waving flag on a
limousine for the Bicentennial parade, where he was featured in the News-Gazette.
His passions were cars and woodworking. He customized every vehicle he owned, putting his
heart and soul into his Chevy Bel Air, “Misty Belle,” which was showcased in the Street Rod
Calendar in February 2015. He enjoyed showing this beauty and earned many trophies for the
one-of-a-kind automobile she is.
He loved and cherished his family and friends and lived his life to the fullest.
He is survived by his life partner, Carolyn Long; his two sons, James Hardig (Deb) and Dean
Hardig (Sandy); and his two daughters, Doris Gocken (Dennis) and Judy Swick (Todd).
He is also survived by his stepchildren, Suzanne Moody (Dave), Vicki Smith (Hoy), and Donnie
Fackler.
His siblings include Mary Taynton, Larry Hardig, and Bob Hardig (Nan).
He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He has rejoined loved ones who preceded him in death, including his parents, Margaret Hardig
and Dallas W. Hardig; his wife, Fianna Belle Hardig (Warfel); his stepdaughter, Dr. Anita
Fackler; his brothers, SGT Terry Hardig and Darrel Hardig; and his sister, Gladys Armstrong.
