Becky Gerald

Rebecca "Becky" Gerald (Chambliss), 62 of St. Joseph passed away at 9:35 P.M. Sunday April 30, 2023.

 Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. St. Joseph. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

 Becky was born November 2, 1960 in Champaign. The daughter of John "Jack" and June (Smith) Chambliss. She married Mark Gerald on March 3, 2006. He survives.

 She is also survived by; Her mother June of St. Joseph. Children Bryan (Sarah) Elder of Fisher, Jesse (Katelyn) Elder of Murphysboro, IL, Daniel Elder of Murphysboro, IL. Her bonus daughter Laura Boyd of Ogden. Six grandchildren; Abigale, Landon, Khloe, Korbin, Aydon, Daxton, and one more on the way. Becky was a mother figure to countless others in the area.

 She was preceded in death by her Father.

 Becky retired in 2005 after 30 years from the University of Illinois having worked at SURS.

 During her retirement she helped manage Billy Bob's in Ogden for the last 18 years.

 Most recently, she spent many years working on, beautifying, and mapping the genealogy for over 300 of those buried at Bodkin Cemetery, Fithian. She was very proud and passionate of this project. 

Becky loved to go fishing, flower gardening, camping and baking. She also made baby blankets, grave blankets, wreaths, flower arrangements, raffle baskets, and pretty much anything anyone asked for or needed.

 Becky had a open door policy. Anyone was welcome at anytime for anything. She had immense love and respect for our military and was  great Veteran's advocate.

 Memorials may be made to Bodkin Cemetery.
